Do you provide training?

TEPS does not provide training, but does have the ability to direct individuals to resources that may be able to assist with this need.

Is there a fee charged for services?

No.  If you are referred via the Washington State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, funding is pre-approved for agreed upon services per the plan.  If you are a Ticket Holder, no fee for services also applies.

How can I apply?

Please fill out the Participant Application as best as you can.  Fax or email it to TEPS.  Once it has been received, you should be receiving a call or email from TEPS within 24 hours.

Can you provide me with accommodations?

Please notify us and identify what accommodations are necessary so that we can make arrangements to accommodate your needs.

Do you work with all disabilities?

Yes.  TEPS has over 37 years of rehabilitation experience.

How long will you work with me after I am employed?

If you are a DVR participant - 90 days after first day of employment - which is the norm for all contracts.  However, DVR will keep you in their system far past the 90 days.  If you are a Ticket Holder - 5 years from date of employment.  This is called job retention.  T his service is to assist in enhancing you to maintain long term employment in an appropriate environment.

Where will I meet for appointments?

We take into consideration your available transportation and location.  TEPS sometimes will schedule appointments at the WorkSource sites, libraries, DVR office site with your DVR counselor, as well as at a potential employer's office.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Medical documentation regarding your disability, ID (picture as well), educational and employment information, resume and your Ticket if you are a Ticket To Work job seeker.  Also, it is most helpful if you have some realistic ideas regarding your job search.  Remember, we can only work with what you have to offer.  Don't forget to have an open mind to try something new.

Can I bring someone with me to the meeting(s)?

Yes, as long as it is someone who is providing you with support or accommodations.

Do I need a driver's license?

A valid driver's license is necessary only if it applies to a job that requires one.  However,  you should have appropriate ID to register with TEPS, as well as for an employer if accepted for employment.

I don't know what type of job I can qualify for.  Can you help me?

If you are a DVR participant, you will be actively involved in the development of a plan that supports a specific employment goal, based on assessment of your education, knowledge, skills, experience and abilities.  If you are a Ticket Holder, you will be encouraged to utilize WorkSource tools which can help to identify feasible employment goals.

If there is an appearance that one's disability is a major barrier to employment, this may result in redirecting the individual to other resources such as the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) where they can potentially receive training.

If I need an interpreter, who pays for it?

If known in advance, TEPS can assist in securing an interpreter for meetings.  Employers will provide this service for interviews.

Will you find me a job?

TEPS' mission is to provide job search and job retention services.  TEPS works in coordination with the job seeker to reach this goal.
